Stephen Curry hilariously accepts $2K fine in exchange for win
By Josh Wilson
Stephen Curry gladly accepted a $2,000 fine for a technical foul assessed to him in exchange for a win on Sunday.
The Golden State Warriors appear to be back on track, finally. After a very disappointing 3-7 start to their quest to defend the 2021-22 title, the Warriors have gone 8-3 since, including a convincing 137-114 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
In that game, six Warriors scored double-digit points, including Stephen Curry who had 25. He also tacked on 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Notably, Curry had more rebounds than Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns, both of which are at least 10 inches taller than Curry.
After having himself a night and all but securing the victory, Curry and Draymond Green left the bench in the fourth quarter, entering the baseline area to dance around and pump their fists in celebration of a big play and the victory.
Steph Curry pokes fun at the penalty on Twitter
Curry shared a video of he and Green receiving technical fouls for the celebration with Inner Circle’s song “Bad Boys” (better known by some as the COPS theme song) over it with the caption, “I’ll take the fine! Good win Dubs!”
The fine for a technical foul is $2,000, nothing compared to Curry’s $48 million salary this season. His game check is over $580,000. Well worth the money if it fires up the team and helps keep their impressive run rolling.
The NBA has been keeping a closer eye on players leaving the bench area during games, so the penalty wasn’t a huge surprise considering Curry and Green wandered well into the baseline area.
Still, this is a fun way to handle the moment. Take the fine, the win, and make some fun with it.
