Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., or OBJ, clapped back at a claim that drugs were somehow involved when he was kicked off a plane in Miami.

OBJ has meetings set up with the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and more in the coming weeks, when he hopes to find a new home. Beckham Jr. suffered a devastating knee injury in last year’s postseason, when he was a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

It remains to be seen exactly how effective Beckham Jr. will be after his surgery, but he’s said to be in great shape. Dallas, for one, remains interested in Beckham Jr. despite a recent incident which made national news.

OBJ was escorted off a plane in Miami, which was reportedly destined for Los Angeles. This was after he was awoken by flight attendants for not putting on his seatbelt. Reports suggested that he would not comply with the rules of the aircraft carrier, though that’s up for some debate given the statement from Beckham Jr.’s lawyer.

Odell Beckham Jr. denies any drug use

One thing that unfortunately had to be disputed by OBJ on Tuesday was whether drugs were involved in the incident. He emphatically denied those claims.

Beckham Jr. has maintained his innocence in the situation in question.

A statement from Miami-Dade police sums up the incident fairly well:

"“At approximately 9:30 a.m., officers from the Miami-Dade Polcie Department, were dispatched to a medical emergency at an American Airlines flight. The flight crew was concerned for a passenger (Mr. Odell Beckham), as they tried to wake him to fasten his seat belt, he appeared to be coming in and out of consciousness, prior to their departure. Fearing that Mr. Beckham was seriously ill, and that his condition would worsen through the expected 5 hour flight, the attendants called for police and fire rescue. Upon the officers arrival, thee flight crew asked Mr. Beckham several times to exit the aircraft, which he refused. The aircraft was deplaned, at which time Mr. Beckham was asked by the officers to excite the plane, and did so without incident. Mr. Beckham, was escoreted to the non-secure area of the terminal by the officers where he made other arrangements.”"

Said police report does not mention drug use in the slightest, so it’s safe to say Beckham Jr. is in the clear regarding these unfounded claims.
