The Minnesota Vikings and Washington Commanders are among the NFL teams that should be on upset alert entering Week 13 of the season.

The NFL season reaches December in Week 13 and the stretch run is officially on. With tight playoff races in both conferences, avoiding upsets is going to be key for teams looking to either improve their seeding in the postseason or simply earn a ticket to dance altogether.

Two teams featured in this space last week, the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, suffered losses on Sunday that could be damaging to their playoff hopes. Let’s take a look at three more teams that could be on upset alert in Week 13, beginning with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers were also included in last week’s upset alert column and nearly made it 3-for-3 before a late rally helped Los Angeles top the Arizona Cardinals. Justin Herbert’s successful two-point conversion helped Los Angeles snap a two-game losing streak and keep pace in the AFC Wild Card hunt, where they trail the New York Jets by one game for the final playoff spot.

Week 13 sees the Chargers hit the road as two-point favorites in a divisional matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. While the season hasn’t gone according to plan for Las Vegas, they have won two straight games thanks to some strong work from running back Josh Jacobs, who accumulated over 300 yards from scrimmage in an upset win at Seattle on Sunday.

It is very risky to back the Chargers as a road favorite in a divisional game, especially since they are still managing a ton of injuries on both sides of the ball. Don’t be shocked if the Raiders continue their mini-surge and knock off their divisional rivals in a key game for the AFC playoff picture.
