Bowl projections and predictions 2022: What bowl game is Texas playing in?
Texas should have a pretty clear idea of what bowl game they will be playing in this year, and it’s definitely a familiar one.
The Texas Longhorns are in an interesting position with the 2022 regular season complete. At 8-4, they didn’t reach the heights many hoped after a narrow loss to Alabama. At the same time, the team showed real signs of promise for the future.
Quinn Ewers and company didn’t make it to the Big 12 Championship Game, but they were just on the outside sitting third in the conference.
So where do they go from here?
Texas bowl projections: Longhorns expected to play in Alamo Bowl
While the Big 12 Championship is uncertain between TCU and Kansas, there aren’t many scenarios where the Longhorns end up anywhere but the Alamo Bowl.
If TCU prevails and punches their ticket to the College Football Playoff, that would put the Wildcats in the Sugar Bowl and Texas in the Alamo as the next-best Big 12 squad.
CBS Sports projects a meeting with Utah in the Alamo Bowl.
If TCU loses, they could still make the CFP, so the Alamo Bowl projection could hold. However, if the committee decided to put Ohio State in over the Horned Frogs things wouldn’t change all that much.
Kansas State would go to the Sugar Bowl with a win as the Big 12 champ. Then TCU would slot into an at-large bid with the Orange Bowl. Texas would still get the Alamo Bowl.

Texas is no stranger to the Alamo Bowl. The Longhorns have the most appearances and victories with a 4-1 record.
