MLB rumor: A change in bio and contract for Aaron Judge

Those trying to find even the slightest clue about where slugger Aaron Judge will land in 2023 and beyond had two more pieces of information added to the mix on Saturday. Now it is a matter of if either piece of information means anything in the pursuit of the American League home run king.

First, there was the change in Judge’s Instagram bio where the location of New York was scrubbed. Is this is a sign that Judge is preparing to leave the Big Apple for the Bay Area? MLB insider Jon Morosi believes the decision for Judge between the Yankees and San Francisco Giants could come during the Winter Meetings, with the Giants being “a very realistic possibility” and Morosi putting the odds of Judge leaving New York at 50-50.

Second, that decision could involve a longer contract than originally thought, with MLB insider Ken Rosenthal writing that Judge could be in line for a nine-year contract. That would likely be the last one ever signed by the 30-year-old Judge and would either cement his legacy in the Bronx or start a new, long-lasting chapter in the National League West.

It sounds like something could well happen this week during the MLB Winter Meetings with Judge, and it’s one of the things I will be tracking here in San Diego.
