The four Heisman Trophy finalists who will be heading to New York include Caleb Williams, C.J. Stroud, Max Duggan and Stetson Bennett IV.

The Heisman Trophy will be awarded on Saturday with four hopefuls ready for a trip to New York.

After a hard-fought season full of highlights and triumphs, it’s just about time to find out who voters will dub the most outstanding player in college football in 2022.

On Monday, the finalists were revealed with quarterbacks taking center stage.

Four Heisman finalists announced for 2022

  • QB Stetson Bennett IV, Georgia Bulldogs
  • QB Max Duggan, TCU Horned Frogs
  • QB C.J. Stroud, Ohio State Buckeyes
  • QB Caleb Williams, USC Trojans

Heisman favorite Caleb Williams of USC was a no-brainer for the finalist list along with C.J. Stroud from Ohio State and Max Duggan of TCU. The only real question for the finalists list was Stetson Bennett IV, who guided Georgia to its first-ever 13-0 record.

Who will ultimately win the award?

Oddsmakers seem to favor Williams, who leads major college football with 47 total touchdowns, including 37 passing and 10 rushing. The quarterback took USC from 4-8 to 11-2 while leading an outstanding offense with Patrick Mahomes-esque plays.

Stroud is right up there with Williams having thrown 37 touchdowns on the year. They tied for first in passing TDs this year along with Houston’s Clayton Tune. Stroud led the nation with a passer rating of 176.25.

While both Williams and Stroud missed out on the College Football Playoff, Duggan and Bennett can both boast that achievement.

Duggan helped take TCU from 5-7 to 12-1 in 2022. While the Horned Frogs fell just short in the Big 12 title game to Kansas State, Duggan did just about everything he could to give them a shot, erasing an 11-point deficit late to force overtime.

Bennett has doesn’t have the stats to match the rest but he has the wins. His Bulldogs are undefeated and the runaway No. 1 team going into the CFP.

However, Bennett’s finalist selection will be met with some argument. Alabama’s Bryce Young, Oregon’s Bo Nix, Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker and Washington’s Michael Pennix all had very strong arguments to be finalists, especially with statistical production greater than the Georgia QB.

The finalists are set regardless of external arguments that commence. We’ll know who prevailed on Saturday night.
