Minnesota Vikings star wideout Justin Jefferson flamed New York Jets’ cornerback D.J. Reed in a hilarious post-game response tweet.

The Minnesota Vikings continue to produce quality wins nearly every week, and Sunday’s contest with the New York Jets was no different. The Vikings prevailed 27-22, improving their record to 10-2 and moving one step closer to clinching the NFC North. In doing so, the MVP-like play of wide receiver Justin Jefferson has opposing defenses fired up and, quite frankly, pissed off.

In a rare non-productive outing, Jefferson caught seven balls for 45 yards and one touchdown against the Jets. Despite the loss and a critical blow to the Jets’ playoff chances, this got rookie cornerback D.J. Reed frustrated, and he let Jefferson know that he got the better of him on the field.

In a post-game media scrum, Reed took a subtle jab at the Vikings’ fan favorite, which began to make the rounds across the NFL Twitter-sphere, if you will.

“I was in his shit all game. He got that one route on me,” Reed told reporters.

This led to Jefferson’s reply, which is equally comedic gold considering that one fan took screengrabs of Reed sitting on the field as Jefferson scored a touchdown for his team and then proceeded to share them in the replies.

“In what shit😂😂You can’t talk having safety help…call me when yo coach trust you to go 1v1,” Jefferson wrote.

At press time, Jefferson’s tweet has gone massively viral, turning in over 5,000 retweets, 630+ quote tweets, and 59,400 likes.

D.J. Reed apologized to Justin Jefferson

Reed eventually apologized and accepted full responsibility for the call-out, making the back-and-forth banter much more entertaining.

“You are the best WR on your team. Yes, my safety was skating most of the day you were held in check tho, but great win today,” Reed wrote.

The Jets (7-5) will now shift their focus to a divisional matchup with the Buffalo Bills (9-3), who are looking to keep pace in the AFC East race. As for the Vikings, they travel to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions (5-7), who are looking for a major upset and to keep midseason momentum going. Both games will kickoff at 1 p.m. ET.
