The Netherlands needed a miracle to stay alive against Argentina and they got one with a late goal made even more dramatic with the Telemundo call.

With 10 minutes left in their World Cup quarterfinal, the Netherlands were down 2-0 with little hope of advancing past Argentina. They’d been undone by Leonel Messi twice — first by an incredible no-look pass, then by a penalty kick.

Wout Weghorst gave them life with a headed goal in the 83rd minute. Even then, there was a mountain to climb with a stadium full of Argentina fans cheering on their team.

Then came the miracle.

A foul at the edge of the box set the Dutch up with a free kick in the dying seconds of added time. They tricked the Argentine defense by rolling a ball past the wall to the feet of Weghorst, who hit it home for the unbelievable game-tying goal.

It was an incredible moment made all the more memorable by the call from Telemundo.

That’s as close to a buzzer-beater as you’ll ever see in soccer.

Weghorst was subbed on in the 78th minute for Memphis Depay. It turned out to be the sub of the tournament because his impact was immediate and massive.

The chippy game was destined to continue with the two sides locked at 2-2 at the end of regulation.

It was eerily similar to what went down between Croatia and Brazil earlier in the day. They saved their drama for extra time. Neymar had seemingly put his nation through with a magical goal in the 105th minute. However, Croatia plays with a “never say die” attitude and it showed. Bruno Petkovic scored in the 117th minute to force a penalty shootout, which the Croats won.
