Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni revealed the team has a photo of a low moment in the 2021 season on display in the team facility.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a simple goal this weekend — win, and they’re in the playoffs. Having the best record in the NFL at 11-1 gives them that chance, but they have to contend with a New York Giants team that despite their roster, are a competitive team. They will have to do so on the road at MetLife Stadium, which is much livelier than in recent years.

Last year when the Eagles faced the Giants on the road, they lost 13-7. While speaking with the media on Friday, Sirianni revealed that the team actually has a blown-up portrait of Hurts and offensive tackle Jordan Mailata taking in the loss on display at the facility.

“There’s one picture that’s up with Jordan Mailata with his hand on Jalen’s [Hurts] back,” Sirianni said, h/t Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. “Jalen has his hands on his knees. He’s looking down. Jordan has his hand on his back.

“I thought what an unbelievable picture of teammates being there for each other in a time of a very tough spot, right? That was after the incomplete pass on the last play of the game last year at New York.”

In that game, the Eagles were trailing 13-7 to the Giants and received possession with a little over one minute remaining in regulation. Starting at their own 41-yard line, Philadelphia made it to New York’s 27-yard line in just four plays. However, the drive stalled out after three incomplete passes by Hurts.

The pivotal play of the game saw Hurts try to throw a completion to now-former wide receiver Jalen Reagor, but it bounced off of his hands. This was the third failed catch by Reagor, who also had a surefire touchdown earlier in the drive, but he failed to bring it in.

After this game, the Eagles were 5-7 on the year. They then went on a four of their next five games to make the playoffs, where they were ultimately eliminated in the Wild Card Round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Over one year later, the Eagles have just one loss through their 12 games played this season. They look like the favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, and Hurts is playing at an NFL MVP level. Now, they are in position to clinch a playoff spot, while making the playoff chances that much more difficult for the rival Giants.
