Tom Brady and the Buccaneers were being beaten so badly by the 49ers that FOX switched to the Panthers-Seahawks in the third quarter.

Remember less than a week ago when Tom Brady reminded everyone in the NFL why he’s the GOAT?

Circumstances couldn’t have been more different on Sunday as the Bucs got absolutely walloped by the 49ers and Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy outplayed Brady.

San Francisco took a 35-0 lead in the third quarter. It was such a blowout, FOX chose to air any more of it in most markets.

FOX cut away from Tom Brady and the Bucs getting beat down

FOX decided that viewers would rather watch as the Panthers and Seahawks engaged in a tight battle than continue to witness Brady’s ultimate humbling.

It was probably the right call. The game finished 35-7. There was a consolation touchdown late in the third but there was no comeback this time.

The other matchup didn’t provide too much drama as Carolina scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to give themselves some breathing room over Seattle but it was still a game. The same couldn’t be said in Santa Clara.

Brady was 34-of-55 with 253 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Purdy had less to do, but did it well, going 16-of-21 for 185 yards for two touchdowns through the air and one on the ground. He had no turnovers.

The 49ers quarterback was helped by 119 yards and a rushing touchdown from Christian McCaffrey, along with 34 yards on two catches and a receiving touchdown. However, the loss of Deebo Samuel to injury put a damper on things.

Tampa Bay is still atop the NFC South at 6-7 but the Panthers’ win kept them within touching distance at 5-8.

The Bucs have a home stretch against the Bengals, Cardinals Panthers and Falcons to look forward to.
