8. Rex Burkhead, Houston Texans

Texans’ stud rookie Dameon Pierce is unlikely to play this week against Kansas City, paving the way for a heavy dose of veteran Rex Burkhead. Burkhead started the year as a thorn in the side of Pierce owners but has since taken a major backseat to the explosive rookie. Now, Burkhead may be making one of the final starts of his career.

Kansas City has had a fairly inconsistent defense all season. At one point, they were the top-ranked run defense in the NFL. Since then, they have dropped to sixth, which is still very respectable. Burkhead’s best chance at fantasy production will be catching the ball out of the backfield, something he’s excelled at times in his career.

7. Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

Tyler Allgeier has been stuck in some form of running back committee the entire season in Atlanta. Whether it’s Cordarrelle Patterson or Caleb Huntley, Allgeier has shared backfield duties with someone all season. Still, he’s seen at least 10 carries in all but three games this season.

The Falcons have opted to roll with rookie signal-caller Desmond Ridder for the remainder of the season, which indicates they are making a move for the future. This could be a sign of how they view their backfield as well, possibly giving more of an opportunity to Allgeier over the veteran Patterson. Allgeier is an interesting DFS play this week.
