Former Jackson State cornerback Travis Hunter announced on YouTube that he will be transferring to Colorado to join head coach Deion Sanders.

Deion Sanders made the jump from Jackson State Tigers to coach the Colorado Buffaloes in the Pac-12.  2022 No. 1 overall recruit Travis Hunter announced that he would be entering the transfer portal one day after the team’s Celebration Bowl loss to the North Carolina Central Eagles. From there, it was a matter of which university would be able to join their program.

Hunter has made his decision, after saying that he would announce it after he received 100,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel. Once the goal was met on Wednesday night, Hunter kept his word.

The former Jackson State cornerback will be joining his head coach to Colorado.

This isn’t necessarily a shock that Hunter will be joining Sanders. The head coach did, after all, successfully recruit Hunter to Jackson State. Hunter was committed to Florida State, but made the switch to Jackson State on Early Signing Day last year.

One program that was considered a serious contender for Hunter were the Georgia Bulldogs. That would have been a massive get for the already stacked roster.

Other universities that were possible landing spots for Hunter include USC and Miami.

Hunter recorded 20 tackles, 10 passes defended, and two interceptions at cornerback, while catching 18 passes for 188 yards and four touchdowns as a wide receiver.

After finishing 1-11 on the season, Colorado hired Sanders to turn the program around to their previous winning ways. Weeks after the hiring was made official, they managed to get one of the top players in the transfer portal in Hunter to reunite with Sanders. Not a bad start to the Coach Prime era.
