Jets fans have seen enough of quarterback Zach Wilson, booing the quarterback and calling for him to be benched against the Jaguars.

There comes a point when a quarterback loses an entire fanbase and there’s no going back. Zach Wilson found that point with Jets fans on Thursday with a stinker of a performance against the Jaguars.

The Thursday Night Football outing was pivotal for New York and their playoff hopes. But Wilson’s performance, going 9-of-18 for 92 yards and an interception, dragged the team down to a 16-3 deficit late in the third quarter.

Fans booed every time he took the field. Then they cheered when backup Chris Streveler finally got the nod instead.

Fans were furious when Wilson wasn’t benched at halftime. His performance in past weeks already had them skeptical. His play on Thursday did nothing to change minds.

When Wilson was finally benched for Streveler, the Jets crowd went wild.

Streveler completed his first two passes for 37 yards, though his completion to Uzmah for 30 yards was ugly. He used his legs to his advantage, rushing for 39  yards as he moved New York down the field.

The Jets had three first downs in the first three quarters with Wilson. Streveler gained three first downs on his first drive.

The vibe in MetLife Stadium couldn’t have been more different from when Wilson was in compared to when Streveler got the Jets offense moving.

Streveler came in with the Jets in a hole, but his addition was proof that Wilson’s time in New York has run its course. There doesn’t seem to be any coming back from the boos raining down, regardless of the performance of the fourth-stringer.
