D.J. Uiagalelei has some familiarity of what Tony Elliott is doing over at Virginia
All signs may point towards Uiagalelei heading back to the West Coast to finish out his collegiate career, but there is another school over in the ACC that might be worth monitoring. That would be the Virginia Cavaliers. There are three reasons why Uiagalelei transferring to UVA makes sense. He would be reuniting with Tony Elliott, would be replacing Brennan Armstrong and knows the ACC.
The Cavaliers had a very challenging first season under Elliott for so many reasons. Frankly, all parties involved could use each other. The fact that Uiagalelei would already have some baked-in level knowledge of Elliott’s scheme, as well as what UVA can be in the ACC, certainly makes this a real possibility. Armstrong having entered the portal clears the way for Uiagalelei to be the starter.
Virginia might only be a dark horse to land Uiagalelei, but the fit would be rather seamless for him.
