The Vikings radio call from Paul Allen was another gem as the energetic broadcaster was perfect for Minnesota’s game-winning 61-yard field goal vs NY.

Even after the Minnesota Vikings completed the largest comeback in NFL history in Week 15 against the Colts with a wild overtime win, there might not have been a more popular person on the planet than Vikings radio announcer Paul Allen.

Anyone who routinely keeps up with Minnesota knows that Allen masterfully toes the line between being completely unhinged and juicing every bit of drama and excitement out of the big moments. So when Greg Joseph gave the team a 39-36 win over the Colts, everyone was loving his call. And little did we know, Allen would get another moment in the sun one week after that with the Vikings and Giants playing.

Minnesota was up 24-16 late against the Giants but the defense faltered and allowed New York to not only score the touchdown on with Saquon Barkley but also to get the two-point try and tie it up.

But the Vikes stayed calm and drove down the field, relying heavily on Justin Jefferson to get them right on the edge of field goal range. With four seconds left, they lined up for the 61-yard attempt to try and seal the win.

Vikings radio call of game-winning Greg Joseph 61-yard FG vs Giants is perfection from Paul Allen

Even from 20 yards farther out than last week, Joseph was nails and split the uprights with the try. And once again, Paul Allen delivered a Vikings radio call that fans won’t be able to get enough of.

There might not be anyone in the business better than Allen at this point. And it’s moments like that which prove as much.

Minnesota, for their part, have given Allen plenty of reason to get that excitement in his voice this season. They moved to 12-3 with Joseph’s 61-yard winner on Saturday and have locked up the NFC North — but they also have set an NFL record for the most wins in one-score games in a single season.

Maybe they enjoy hearing Paul Allen on the call of these plays as much as we do. That’s about the only way to explain why they keep ending up in this nervous positions.
