LeBron James deleted tweet suggests he’s given up on Lakers playoff hopes

LeBron James recently deleted a tweet that said he would not miss the playoffs again.

The Los Angeles Lakers have never had the same success as they did when they won the NBA championship in the 2019-20 season. They were eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Suns in the 2020-21 playoffs, and they couldn’t even qualify for the play-in tournament in the 2021-22 campaign.

Speaking of the 2021-22 season, star LeBron James sent out a tweet this past April which read “I can/will not miss the post season for my career! This s*** hurt.”

Well, that tweet was recently deleted.

The Lakers are currently on a four-game losing streak, from their Dec. 19 game against the Phoenix Suns, to their Christmas Day contest against the Dallas Mavericks. They are 13-20 on the year before they face the Orlando Magic on Dec. 27.

Los Angeles went all-in on their trade for Russell Westbrook last season, but it didn’t work out as planned, given his play and the injuries to James and Anthony Davis.

This year, the Lakers are once again dealing with injuries, specifically Davis. Back in their Dec. 16 game against the Denver Nuggets, Davis left with a right foot injury. It was then revealed that Davis will be out indefinitely due to a stress injury of his right foot.

Since picking up the injury, the Lakers have lost four-of-five games prior to their Dec. 27 game against the Orlando Magic.

Through 25 games this season, James is averaging 27.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from the 3-point line.

Even with their losing record ahead of New Year’s there’s still plenty of time for the Lakers to turn things around.
