The College Football Playoff National Championship Game will be played in The City of Angels.

Once the Fiesta and Peach Bowls reach their conclusions, the College Football Playoff will be coming down to one final game: The 2023 National Championship.

Although this is the last game of the 2022 college football season, the playoff takes on the following year in its name. What also makes the national title bout so intriguing is that it changes locations far more frequently than even the national semifinal games do. Thus, it is always a challenge to remember where the national championship is being played at in any given season.

As to where this year’s champion will be crowned, it will be at SoFi Stadium over in Los Angeles.

Yes, this college football season’s national champion will be crowned at the same stadium the Los Angeles Rams share with the Los Angeles Chargers. Although the Rose Bowl is played in the same metroplex at SoFi, this new state-of-the-art stadium is not part of national semifinal rotation. This means it has to be the site of the national championship for it to be part of any particular playoff.

While this is the sixth straight College Football Playoff without a Pac-12 team in it, that will not be the case for all that much longer. The Pac-12 seems to be on the uptick, even with USC and UCLA leaving for the Big Ten in a few years. Regardless, the West Coast is finally back to caring about college football on a national level, which only means great things for the sport moving forward.

Ultimately, SoFi will be the place that will have coronated both the collegiate and professional league’s most recent champions. Last year’s Super Bowl was played in Inglewood which saw the hometown Rams won their first title since moving back. It might be a late start on the East Coast next Monday night, but kickoff will be right around the time the sun goes down at SoFi Stadium.

The ninth College Football Playoff National Champion will achieve its eternal glory in Inglewood.
