As the Ohio State Buckeyes prepare for the College Football Playoff, Emeka Egbuka has been contacted by other schools about transferring.

Emeka Egbuka hasn’t taken the bait, at least not yet. Egbuka doesn’t want to be a distraction as his team, the Ohio State Buckeyes, prepares for a tough matchup against the No. 1 team in the country, the Georgia Bulldogs.

Egbuka said he’s been contacted by schools about transferring away from Columbus, but he remains happy at Ohio State. It’s odd timing for rival schools to take a swing at Egbuka and the Buckeyes, especially as they play in the CFP on New Year’s Eve.

Now, it’s important to note that there’s no real way to enforce ‘tampering’ in the NIL era. It happens everywhere, and Ohio State is far from the only victim here. If anything, smaller schools — even those in Power 5 conferences — deal with this far more often.

Ohio State Buckeyes player Emeka Egbuka not transferring

Emeka Egbuka is only a sophomore, and has played a vital role in Ohio State’s passing game this season. This year, he has 66 receptions for 1,039 yards and nine touchdowns. It’s important to note that this is the same offense that features Marvin Harrison Jr.

Having C.J. Stroud surely helps, but Egbuka would be unwise to go anywhere considering he’s one of OSU’s top targets. He’s maxing out his exposure, and if all goes well the next few years, could be a top wide receiver target in the NFL Draft.

Do Buckeyes fans have anything to worry about, though? Egbuka didn’t say he was happy at Ohio State. Rather, he mentioned he was ‘content’. Word choice is everything in this scenario.

Ryan Day has a lot to make up for on the recruiting trail after losing to Michigan. He may have to ensure none of his own players leave Columbus as well.
