Kirby Smart had plenty of things to say after Georgia survived Ohio State in the Peach Bowl.

A win is a win, but Kirby Smart knows his Georgia Bulldogs caught a few lucky breaks late in the game to pull off the monumental comeback over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Ohio State played about as well as Ryan Day’s team could have. Despite a herculean effort out of Heisman Trophy finalist quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Buckeyes came up one point shy of advancing to the national title bout. As for the Dawgs, they saved their best football for last. They out-executed the Buckeyes down the stretch to win this one in their backyard in dramatic fashion.

Let’s just say Smart knows that Georgia has a lot of work to do between now and the TCU game…

He admitted that Ohio State probably deserved to win the Peach Bowl more than Georgia did.

They had a hard time defending the Ohio State passing attack until Marvin Harrison Jr. got hurt.

However, Smart said that the resiliency his players demonstrated was certainly commendable.

Fortunately, this is the type of victory that could propel Georgia to back-to-back national titles.

If you had any doubts about what the new standard is for the Georgia football program, all that Smart said after the game made it so incredibly obvious. Outside of Nick Saban during the peak of his dynastic run at Alabama have we heard a head coach offer so much criticism about his team, even after a hard-fought victory. Then again, Smart did commend Georgia’s mental toughness…

You can deny it all you want, but Georgia may have overlooked Ohio State in this one. Though the Dawgs did get the Buckeyes’ best effort, Georgia largely played like it could just show up and win the ballgame. However, the Dawgs did have enough time to take the lead to essentially steal one away from the Buckeyes. They have to realize that TCU has no issues playing in these tight spots.

Ultimately, Georgia will have a little more than a week to look at the tape, clean up all their mistakes made early on in the Peach Bowl and get ready for another national title bout. The last time the Dawgs played TCU, it was in Coach Smart’s first bowl game. The Dawgs eked out a tight one over Gary Patterson’s Horned Frogs in the 2016 Liberty Bowl. Oh, how things have changed…

Georgia is more talented than TCU, but the Horned Frogs can execute at a tremendously high level.
