Who is Damar Hamlin?
Hamlin is a 24-year-old second-year pro from McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania.
He played college ball at Pitt before being drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
When Micah Hyde went down with an injury early in the 2022 season, Hamlin stepped into a starting role. In 13 starts, he had 91 tackles.
Many on Twitter who know him personally shared links related to his charitable work back home.
In 2020, at the end of his final year at Pitt, Damar Hamlin organized a toy drive for kids in his hometown of McKees Rocks, Pa. This is the young man who went down on the field tonight in Cincinnati. He is a man; not a number on a jersey. Prayers for Damar. pic.twitter.com/mSa80YklRK
