FOX Sports commentator Skip Bayless did not apologize for his insensitive Damar Hamlin tweet during Monday night’s Bills vs Bengals game.

After nearly 10 minutes of CPR, Bills safety Damar Hamlin was taken to a local hospital. He nearly died on the field, and that is not an exaggeration. For players of both teams, it was a traumatic event. For Skip Bayless, it was another chance to embrace debate.

Bayless tweet is still up, for some odd reason, but he issued a clarification a few hours later after being prodded by his boss. Yes, really.

Skip was rightly called out for his commentary, which made light of a young man’s life hanging in the balance. Hamlin is only 24 years old, who the hell cares when this game is played? That’s a problem for down the road, if ever.

At around the 9:23 mark, Bayless discusses his tweet, suggesting he was taken out of context. He then revealed his boss at FOX called him to suggest he clarify his statement, which he then did.

Skip Bayless still doesn’t understand what he did wrong

Skip Bayless lost his morality long ago, so it’s no surprise that he doesn’t understand what he did wrong. In Bayless line of work, he must believe everything he says is correct. The unfortunate side of that is his inflated ego, which expanded beyond the point of human consciousness long ago.

Skip should not get a pass for his statement — if anything, it should lead to actual consequences. Do not give in to his attempts at drawing in viewers for an apology, statement, or feelings of resentment. He will try, but he should not succeed.

Bayless thrives on viewership. Despite the fact that his show rarely outdraws Sesame Street on your local cable package, he remains employed. It might be time for FOX to pull the plug.
