There will be plenty of eyes on the NFL playoffs now that they have begun. Here’s how long they can expect halftime to last in games.
Every fall and winter, NFL fans spend their weekends watching the games that air on a weekly basis. Fans follow their favorites teams, seeing if they will make it to the playoffs, or if they will fall in contention for the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. Sometimes they are decided relatively early in the season, or until the final week of the season.
With the playoffs, there are going to be fanatics and casual viewers watching to see which teams advance until two teams make it to the Super Bowl. From there, the winner of the Lombardi Trophy will be awarded to the winning team of the NFL’s biggest game.
With that, they are probably wondering how long halftime is for each game. Here’s how long halftime usually lasts in the NFL.
How long is halftime in the NFL?
According to the league’s rulebook for the 2022 season, halftime lasts around 12-13 minutes between the end of the second quarter and the start of the third. That gives fans enough time to grab some food or a drink, or stretch before the start of the final two quarters of the game.

Because the stakes are higher in the NFL Playoffs, many fans wonder if halftime is longer to increase the amount of rest the players can get. That is not the case, however. Halftime is still only 12-13 minutes for playoff games.
That is for regular season and playoff games. Fans and casual viewers can expect a much longer halftime break during the Super Bowl. Not only does the network analysts break down the first half of action, but the league presents their halftime show, performed by a musical guest. With that, halftime will last around 30 minutes.
Some previous Super Bowl halftime performers include The Rolling Stones, Beyonce, Paul McCartney, Prince, and Lady Gaga.
Rihanna is scheduled to perform the halftime show for Super Bowl 57.
