Teams that shouldn’t sign Trevor Bauer despite pitching needs: Atlanta Braves

While a veteran arm in the rotation would be ideal for the Braves, the club is better off with their young arms. Max Fried, Charlie Morton, Kyle Wright, Spencer Strider, and Bryce Elder make for a formidable rotation.

If the clubs want to find a veteran arm, Bauer would be a terrible option.

With Marcell Ozuna, also accused of domestic violence, already on the team, adding Bauer would create a look they must avoid. Adding Bauer to a team with fan-friendly, young stars like Ozzie Albies, Ronald Acuna Jr., Austin Riley, Sean Murphy, and Michael Harris II would be a terrible idea.

Teams that shouldn’t sign Trevor Bauer despite pitching needs: Houston Astros

Bauer has worn cleats with trash cans adorning them and wore a t-shirt with the words “Houston Cheated.” It’s safe to say Bauer is no fan of the Astros organization. So it’s a little surprising to hear Houston linked to Bauer, even if it is all about being competitive down the stretch.

Former Minnesota Twins infielder Trevor Plouffe said on the Talkin’ Baseball MLB podcast that the Astros could eventually take an interest in Bauer. Plouffe said as the season goes on, the Astros could show interest as a way to be competitive down the stretch.

This seems like a disaster in the making.  The Astros lost Justin Verlander to free agency and could use a veteran arm, but it would be wise for everyone involved to move away from this potential pairing.
