Bold predictions for Chiefs vs. Jaguars: Neither team rushes for over 100 yards

During the regular season, neither the Chiefs nor the Jaguars were explosive on the ground. Both teams used multiple running backs throughout the year and for different reasons. But, those backs won’t be doing much on the ground in this game.

The Chiefs shifted to using running back Jerrick McKinnon more as a receiver down the stretch, while rookie Isiah Pacheco took a lot of the grunt work. Still, it was Mahomes and the passing game that continued to steal the show. Kansas City’s run game wasn’t awful by any means, but Mahomes simply did his thing and the Chiefs were never forced to rely on the run.

Jacksonville (124.5) averaged only about 10 yards rushing per game more than Kansas City (115.9) during the regular season, so they weren’t as heavily dependent on the run either. It was the Trevor Lawrence show on many occasions, and justifiably so. The second-year quarterback was one of the main reasons for this team’s turnaround.

With all of the scoring through the air, neither team will end the game rushing for over 100 yards, which both teams of course averaged well over during the regular season.

This will be a game where the quarterbacks truly take center stage and one where the more experienced veteran comes out on top.
