3 best early contenders to trade for Derek Carr in 2023 offseason

Derek Carr’s former Raiders coach Dennis Allen leads the New Orleans Saints
Perhaps the best landing spot for Carr would reunite him with a familiar face. The New Orleans Saints are led by former Raiders head coach Dennis Allen, who was Carr’s first head coach as a professional coming out of Fresno State. Given that the Saints have retained Pete Carmichael Jr. as their offensive coordinator, there is a greater sense of continuity in New Orleans than most teams.
Factor in the Saints not settled at quarterback currently, now entering year three without Drew Brees, you can easily see why Carr would be a solution for them. Should New Orleans be able to recoup some draft capital by trading away Sean Payton’s coaching rights, they might be able to afford Carr. The other big thing to note is how bad the NFC South is. This is a winnable division…
So you have an easy division, continuity on the offensive staff and solid ownership in New Orleans. The Saints play in the opposite conference from the Raiders, so they will not have to give up the farm for him if he were to be traded in-conference. However, one could easily argue the Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could all use a quarterback as well.
The need for a franchise quarterback in the division could drive up the price for the Saints to get Carr.
