Denver Broncos. 2. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 60. Defensive Coordinator. Ejiro Evero

Unrest in Denver could help the Vikings get a stud in Ejiro Evero

Given the fact that Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero has been drawing interest for head coaching openings throughout the league this offseason, it might seem like a pie-in-the-sky thing for him to end up as a defensive coordinator for another team. However, it’s the situation that he’s in that might make it at least somewhat possible for Minnesota.

The Broncos are another team that is searching for its next head coach after firing Nathaniel Hackett before he finished his first season in Denver. There have been rumors about who could take the job but the assumption has been made due to Evero’s credentials that any new hire would keep him around. But that’s not a guarantee.

There’s a realistic chance that Evero could look to re-establish himself at a new home if he doesn’t jibe with the new head coach in Denver. As such, that could bring a team such as the Vikings into play who have talent but need the right mind. It would be mutually beneficial in helping Evero continue to boost his stock as a coaching candidate and Minnesota would get the defensive boost needed.

Despite how bad the Broncos were overall last season, they were still ranked 10th in Defensive DVOA and that was in spite of ranking 20th in Rush Defense DVOA, per Football Outsiders. Minnesota has better personnel to defend the run and could experience a dramatic uptick defensively if they could get Evero to make the lateral jump from team to team as a DC.
