The Buffalo Bills were eliminated in the Divisional Round for the second year in a row, losing to the Cincinnati Bengals 27-10. Here are three players who won’t be back and their best replacements.

The Buffalo Bills were Super Bowl favorites entering the 2022 season. After their previous two playoff trips ended at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills were seemingly built up to make that run to the big game at the end of the season.

Unfortunately for Buffalo, their season ended in the Divisional Round for the second consecutive season. Despite playing at home and in the snow, the Bills were handedly defeated by Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals 27-10. It was far from the way the team expected to end their season.

Now, the Bills will have to prepare for an important offseason. They don’t have much cap space available to them, and they have some big-name players set to become unrestricted free agents. Here are three players who could leave, and options the Bills can replace them with.

The Bills used one of their first-round selections in the 2018 NFL Draft on quarterback Josh Allen. The other selection was used on linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who was only 19-years-old at the time. Now, he is a five-year veteran and will enter free agency at just 24-years-old.

This past season, Edmunds recorded 102 combined tackles, seven passes defensed, six tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, one interception, and one sack. In coverage, Edmunds surrendered 39 receptions for 296 yards on 60 targets.

Edmunds has fives seasons on his resume in Buffalo, and will now be one of the top linebackers available in free agency. A team could very well pay him outside of Buffalo’s price range. Here’s how the Bills could replace him.

Bills best replacement options for Tremaine Edmunds

  • Drew Sanders (NFL Draft)
  • Trenton Simpson (NFL Draft)

Considering the lack of cap space they have, the Bills will not only miss out on Edmunds, but also lose out on another top free agency option in Lavonte David. The best bet for the Bills to replace Edmunds is through the NFL Draft. It’s entirely possible that one of Drew Sanders of Trenton Simpson will be available when they are on the clock in the first-round.
