Expect for Nick Saban to be takin’ care of business with these coordinator hires

Joe Brady could bring NFL experience to the SEC West where he once flourished

One name Nick Saban needs to consider has to be Joe Brady. Though he is best remembered for being the LSU Tigers’ passing game coordinator during their unforgettable national championship season in 2019, Brady has spent more team in the NFL than anything. Brady has been with the New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers and now the Buffalo Bills as their quarterbacks coach.

Like Glenn Schumann and Charlie Weis Jr., Brady is still very early into his coaching career, as he does not turn 34 until September. While it remains to be seen if he is interested in recruiting, there is an opportunity for him to be an offensive coordinator again after it went kaput for him in Charlotte under Matt Rhule. He does not need to be rehabilitated, but this is a great next job.

It really comes down to if Brady wants to stay in Orchard Park or move south down to Tuscaloosa.

Jim Leonhard will make Wisconsin regret passing on him, one way or another

While Jim Leonhard has 10 years experience playing defensive back in the NFL, he has only worked at Wisconsin as a college coach. He joined Paul Chryst’s 2016 Badgers staff a year after he retired. Leonhard became their defensive coordinator beginning in 2017, a role he would keep until Chryst was ousted mid-season last year and he had to take over as the interim. He went 5-3 in that role.

This would only be a temporary stop for Leonhard, probably not for more than three years. It would be all about being on a coaching staff that will contend for playoff berths. Although Leonhard is a midwest guy through and through, it is all about football at Alabama. If Leonhard wants to forever make Wisconsin regret passing on him for Luke Fickell, let’s start in Tuscaloosa.

Not only will college teams want to hire Leonhard, but he could be getting some NFL looks as well.
