NBA trade rumors make it sound like the Raptors are increasingly likely to trade Fred VanVleet. And now a new team is reportedly in the mix.

The Magic who just recently took care of the Pacers may look to make a move in upgrading talent. This team who has been very fun to watch all season may try to get Fred VanVleet in a trade to upgrade their roster. This is according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, who says they have an interest in acquiring VanVleet via trade.

The Magic have some top assets to work with as they have the Bulls protected first-round pick for this season and the Nuggets’ 2025 protected first-round pick in addition to having all of the rights to the rest of their picks over the next seven years. For salary purposes, the Magic could use Mo Bamba (who they have been trying to move anyways) and one of Gary Harris or Terrence Ross.

How would Fred VanVleet fit on the Orlando Magic?

The Magic have a lot of young guys playing for them right now, guys who don’t really have a lot of playoff experience and could benefit from someone like Fred VanVleet in the locker room. (Who has won a title and played in playoff series before).

Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner give this team a solid base to build from. Markelle Fultz and Cole Anthony are solid supporting pieces and Bol Bol is barely scratching the surface of his potential. A leader who could make all the difference.

If VanVleet could stay around long-term, this team would be really fun to watch AND they would become locks to make the playoff in the East. If Banchero and Wagner take another step in their development, then Orlando could become title contenders. This is something that hasn’t been typed since the Dwight Howard days.
