4. Lions have enough capital to sway Bears on in-division Justin Fields trade

Yes, it’s extremely unlikely that Chicago would be looking to trade Justin Fields within in the NFC North, even if there could be interested buyers. However, while the Packers would love to hit the reset button on the offense with Fields should Aaron Rodgers leave this offseason, the fact of the matter is that, if any team in the division has the ammo to make the move, it’s the Detroit Lions.

After the Matthew Stafford trade, Detroit’s offense has been fine with Jared Goff but there is clear room to upgrade at quarterback. More importantly, that trade has netted the Lions the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s draft while they also have No. 18. They also have an extra second-round pick too, which means they can pay the in-division premium to perhaps force the Bears to make this trade.

Here’s what that trade package would look like.

Detroit would undoubtedly have to give up more draft capital than any other conceivable trade partner, which is a tough pill to swallow. At the same time, though, this team was on the cusp of the playoffs this past season with Goff under center and Fields would represent, at the very least, a talent upgrade. Moreover, the Lions would also still have a first and second-round pick to continue building the roster with.

As for Chicago, as much as the organization would surely prefer to not deal him in the NFC North, ending up with Bryce Young and the No. 6 pick along with an additional second-rounder would be hard for the team to ultimately pass up if the Lions were willing to make that trade offer.
