1. Panthers should be the frontrunners for a Justin Fields trade with the Bears

Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper has not been shy about his desire for the franchise to get a game-changer at quarterback. They’ve tried in numerous markets over the past few years, including putting out feelers about Deshaun Watson, taking a swing on Sam Darnold, doing the same with Baker Mayfield, and so on.

The end result for the Panthers, however, has only been more telling that Carolina doesn’t have the guy that Tepper wants yet. It would be ideal to draft one but, sitting with the No. 9 pick in the 2023 draft, they are behind the likes of the Texans, Colts, Seahawks, Lions, Raiders and Falcons, all of whom could potentially target a quarterback in the draft.

It’s true that the Panthers could also potentially be a trade partner for the No. 1 pick if the Bears held onto Fields, but in this world where Chicago is aiming to deal their current quarterback this offseason, Tepper and the front office could turn on the hyperdrive and make a godfather offer to land Fields to ensure that they won’t get outbid, a deal looking something like this.

The Bears once again would get an additional Top 10 selection and another Top 100 selection from the Panthers. However, Carolina can sweeten the pot with a Day 2 pick in the 2024 draft to, once again, aid Chicago in filling out its roster around Young beyond just this offseason. That would be a win for both franchises in this scenario.
