Damar Hamlin challenges Tom Brady, LeBron James, Michelle Obama for CPR awareness

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is partnering with the American Heart Association to raise awareness for CPR, and challenged Tom Brady, LeBron James, and Michelle Obama.
In Week 17 of the 2022 NFL season, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest in the first quarter of the team’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was treated on the field for around 10 minutes, where he received CPR, and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition. Hamlin’s condition improved in the passing days, where he was able to breath on his own, move his hands and feet, and eventually was able to return home to continue his recovery.
Recently, Hamlin posted a video through the Bills’ official Twitter account, sending thanks to the team, its training staff, the fans, and everyone who sent him well wishes while he was receiving treatment and recovering. Now, he is looking to raise awareness for CPR.
On Tuesday, Hamlin announced that he was partnering with the American Heart Association (AHA) to create Damar Hamlin’s Three for Heart CPR challenge. It’s a three step challenge in which the individual goes to heart.org/3 to watch a short video on how to perform hands-only CPR, makes a donation to the AHA, and challenge three friends to do the same. Hamlin challenged Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, and former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama.

After completing those three steps, Hamlin asks that every share their video on social media, tag him, and to be sure to throw up a heart gesture with their hands. Of course, the heart symbol is what Hamlin used to celebrate after making a play in college and in the NFL.
When Hamlin’s condition was progressing, he announced the sale of a new t-shirt featuring his heart hand gesture and the phrase “did we win,” in reference to the first thing he asked doctors when he was able to communicate. All proceeds from those t-shirt sales went to the first responders at UC Medical Center.
After being discharged from UC Medical Center, Hamlin received medical evaluations, and cardiac, vascular, and neurological testing at Buffalo General Hospital, where he was cleared.
Hamlin made an appearance at the Bills’ Divisional Round game against the Bengals.
Days after sending his thanks to those who supported him in his recovery, Hamlin is now working to raise awareness for CPR, and sent out his challenges to Brady, James, and Obama. You can participate in the Three for Heart CPR challenge in the link above, or you can click here.
