Teams that should steal Lamar Jackson in free agency: Indianapolis Colts

Picture, for a moment, a backfield featuring a healthy Jonathan Taylor right behind Lamar Jackson. Assume the Colts have gone out and addressed their offensive line, and my goodness, we have ourselves pure electricity.

Taylor is still a top-5 running back in this league but struggled last year mostly due to having little blocking in front of him. The offensive scheme was bad, too, and with the coaching situation, it was a season in flux for Indy. Still, Taylor has just under 4,000 yards rushing in only his first three seasons as a pro. This is a guy who’s as good as it gets.

But, the Colts have pieces in place on defense. They can take the football away. They play in a winnable division. Offensively, the Colts have Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce and Parris Campbell for weapons at wide receiver. They also have an underrated tight end room with Mo-Alie Cox and last year’s rookie Jelani Woods, who both possess massive size at the position.

This offense screams Lamar Jackson. And, the Colts have made a habit out of signing veteran passers over the years, since the retirement of Andre Luck. Throw Jackson on this Colts team, and they are immediately in the conversation for a Super Bowl next year.
