1. Aaron Rodgers

The active quarterback closest to reaching Brady’s passing yards record is… Matt Ryan. But after Ryan, it’s Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers is third on the list with 59,055 passing yards and 475 touchdowns. He’s just 30,000 yards shy of besting Brady; assuming retirement isn’t in the cards for him, Rodgers actually has a pretty good shot at surpassing the G.O.A.T.

Rodgers’ future with the Packers has been clouded with uncertainty after Green Bay failed to make the playoffs, and if Rodgers decided to play as long as Brady did, he’ll need 5,000 yards for the next six seasons to tie the record.

Improbable? Sure. Rodgers nonetheless has a starry future should he choose to stay with the Packers, who recently drafted promising weapons in Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson. If he chooses to leave, the New York Jets are a favorite to sign him, and the Jets boast one of the youngest and most talented squads in the league.

Will one No. 12 beat the other No. 12? Only time will tell.
