1. Joe Harris

Harris plays a similar role to Curry but his circumstances make him vastly different as a trade asset. His contract is much larger and leaves him under team control next season at just over $19 million. Harris’ size (6-foot-6) adds a bit more lineup and defensive flexibility over Curry (6-foot-2). He might take more for a team to acquire but he has more residual value since he won’t just be leaving at the end of the season.

The Knicks might be able to entice the Nets with Evan Fournier for contract matching and a young player like Cam Reddish or one of those protected first-rounders as compensation for taking on an extra year of salary. The Lakers might be able to swing a deal with Patrick Beverley’s salary, another small contract and a pair of seconds, depending on what they do with Russell Westbrook and their other two first-round picks.

There may be fewer suitors for Harris simply because of the cost but the teams that need a player like him really need a player like him.
