Find out when the 2023 college football season will start, as August is officially the start of gridiron royalty for every FBS team.

The 2022-23 college football season was capped off with Georgia thrashing TCU in a 65-7 rout to win the national championship for the second-straight year and completing a perfect 15-0 season, becoming the 63rd undefeated national champion to do so.

As usual, the SEC continues to dominate the sport, and it does not look to be changing anytime soon in this ever-changing NIL era of collegiate athletics. Despite that, the Big Ten has also shown its rightful place as the second-best conference in the nation. Michigan made the College Football Playoff before losing to TCU, as did Ohio State against Georgia.

The Big Ten West was also impressive. Illinois went 8-5, completing its first eight-win season since an appearance in the 2008 Rose Bowl. Purdue won the division due to tiebreakers, while Northwestern clinched its worst season in three decades, creating parity around the 14-team league. It was a league that saw C.J. Stroud, J.J. McCarthy, and Chase Brown create eye-catching headlines week in and week out.

For now, though, the 2022 season is in the past, and it’s time to look toward the future, where new superstars emerge, and old veterans return for unfinished business. And, yes, we’re already counting down the days until the new year officially begins.

When does the 2023 college football season start?

Week 0 will kick off on Aug. 26. The headlining game will feature Navy taking on Notre Dame in Dublin, Ireland.

Less than a week later, Week 1 will see a large slate of games hit the airwaves, including Colorado traveling to TCU, Georgia, who will begin a potential three-peat against UT-Martin, and Michigan hosting East Carolina.

And, yes, college football season’s countdown is slowly but surely dwindling.
