More LB depth is necessary for the Steelers and Aubrey Miller Jr. is all-upside

Even with getting Sanders at the top of the second round, as mentioned, the Steelers linebacker room is going to need depth and, frankly, just a lot of help. So when they have to wait through the entirety of the fifth round in the 2023 NFL Draft without making a selection, they should be ready to jump at the opportunity to take a high-upside player like Aubrey Miller Jr. out of Jackson State.

While Miller does lack a little size at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds listed, where he shined was as a coverage backer. Sure, he was playing against FCS competition in a SWAC conference that left a lot to be desired often, but when you look at the instincts and movement ability, the talent is evident.

The leap in competition might mean some growing pains for Miller, who was also solid-not-great against the run, but his talent would be a valuable thing for Pittsburgh to have moving forward.

Oklahoma. player. 55. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 7. OT. Wanya Morris

Deepening the Steelers OL room with a former top recruit in Wanya Morris

Truth be told, whether it was at his first stop at Tennessee or after he transferred to Oklahoma, Wanya Morris never lived up to what he was supposed to be coming out of high school. A former 5-star recruit and a Top 30 player in his recruiting class nationally, he was expected to be a potential high draft pick whenever he did declare. And while he wasn’t an abject failure, he never showed all of his elite potential.

When the Steelers get to the seventh round, though, and still need to find more upgrades for depth on the O-line, it’d be hard to pass on the profile of Morris. The listed 6-foot-6, 305-pounder needs to develop more technically as a pass-blocker but he actually showed something promising after a move to right tackle from the left side this past season. If he can prove he’s healthy, he could be a late-round gem for the Steelers are a true position of need.
