Super Bowl 57: 10 likeliest players to win MVP
2. Likeliest Super Bowl MVP Candidates – Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
History has dictated that the winning quarterback gets the Super Bowl MVP honors at a 55 percent clip so it makes sense the two starters are the top two candidates to win MVP honors. Hurts checks in slightly below Mahomes since he has more competition on his own offense for the award but if the Eagles do win it will be in large part due to a monster performance from their new franchise quarterback.
The fact that Hurts can beat teams both through the air and on the ground would make him a unique MVP since we haven’t had a true dual-threat quarterback win the Super Bowl MVP yet. If the Eagles can come up with a game plan that allows Hurts to torch the Chiefs through the air and on the ground he will run away with the MVP honors in a landslide.
1. Likeliest Super Bowl MVP Candidates – Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes
The only player on this list with a previous Super Bowl MVP to his name, Mahomes is the odds-on favorite to win the MVP award in Super Bowl LVII. The fact that Hill is no longer on his team makes what Mahomes is doing even more impressive and should help distinguish himself from the rest of the Kansas City roster.
There are few Chiefs on the roster who would pose a real threat to Mahomes’ MVP status than Kelce, who would also be helping Mahomes if he has a good day. The high-ankle sprain that Mahomes is playing through may take away some of his mobility for the big game but if he delivers a performance like the one he put up against Cincinnati in the AFC Championship Game it will be very hard to stop Mahomes from adding a second Super Bowl MVP trophy to his mantle.
