2. Jets are in a similar boat to the Raiders with their Lamar Jackson trade package

The other team expected to lead the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes is the New York Jets. It’s a move that shouldn’t shock people, though, given that quarterback might somehow be all that Gang Green needs to legitimately contend.

Make no mistake, New York completely whiffed with the Zach Wilson pick and it cost them a playoff spot this year. But the fact that the Jets nearly made it to the postseason with nearly league-worst quarterback play is astounding and speaks to the rest of the roster’s strength.

That’s why they are expected to be in on Rodgers. It’s also why they should be in on Lamar Jackson. And much like the Raiders, he should be on the New York’s radar right now as more like a Plan 1B to Rodgers’ 1A. As such, a Jets trade package might look like this.

The Jets have the worst first-round pick in this year’s draft that they could offer of any of the other potential Ravens trade partners. However, with three fourth-round picks in 2024, they can give up the first- and second-rounders this year and then package a couple of those with next year’s first to make this deal.

Again, New York appears on the precipice of something special if they can figure quarterback out. Subsequently, an aggressive move like this makes more sense for them than most.
