The two-time NFL MVP was making an impact on Professional sports long before he entered the NFL.

Records were made to be broken, and NFL records were made to be broken by Patrick Mahomes.

Since entering the NFL in the 2017 NFL Draft, Mahomes has changed not just the NFL, but all of the American professional sports. Since becoming the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018, Mahomes has led his team to host five straight AFC championships and made it to three Super Bowls in five seasons.

However, Mahomes’ great career started before he even made it to the NFL.

Where did Patrick Mahomes play high school and college football?

Mahomes attended high school at Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. In his senior year, Mahomes was a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, basketball, and football. In his final year at Whitehouse, he threw for 4,619 yards and 50 passing touchdowns, as well as 15 rushing touchdowns. In baseball, Mahomes threw a 16-strikeout no-hitter, which helped encourage the Detroit Tigers to draft him in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB draft.

Mahomes came out of high school as a three-star recruit and elected to go to Texas Tech, one of the three schools that made him an offer. He would play both baseball and football during his freshman and sophomore years. Mahomes did not play much during his freshman year but was the starting quarterback for the Red Raiders in his sophomore and junior year. He would go on to win the Sammy Baugh award his junior year, the award for college football’s best passer.

Mahomes would forgo his senior year of college football and declare for the NFL draft. The rest is history, as the Kansas City Chiefs moved up to the tenth overall pick to grab Patrick Mahomes, he would sit a season behind Alex Smith and has been phenomenal ever since.
