WM Phoenix Open purse 2023: Payout by player, finishing position
Taking a look at the WM Phoenix Open payout for the biggest party in golf and the PGA Tour’s first designated event with an elevated purse and prize money.
As the first full-field PGA Tour designated event of the 2022-23 season, we always knew that the WM Phoenix Open payout was going to be extremely eye-popping. But the $20 million purse for this field featuring quite literally almost all of the game’s top players ended up being worth every bit of the exorbitant prize money.
Scottie Scheffler came into the week at the WM Phoenix Open trying to defend a title for the first time after he captured his first career win at TPC Scottsdale a year ago. However, he had heavy-hitters with all of the talent in the field chasing him with Jon Rahm, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffle and more within striking distance coming into Sunday. And Justin Thomas was lurking and ready to post a low number.
Beyond that, we saw Canadians Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin in contention, trying to take the lucrative title at the most raucous environment that golf has to offer. So let’s see how much money is truly on the line with the 2023 WM Phoenix Open payout by player and finishing position.

It’s truly wild to see the amount of money in the WM Phoenix Open payout this year with its status as an elevated event for the 2022-23 PGA Tour season. You only see numbers this high at something like a major championship, and even then it’s not this much prize money being handed out.
But if these designated events give us leaderboards with the likes of Scheffler, Rahm, Thomas, Spieth, Schauffele and so many more great players, there is no complaining. It’s worth every penny. And this is just the start of the new initiative and we’re seeing great returns.
