Joc Pederson and Logan Webb thought Aaron Judge was signing with the SF Giants, until he wasn’t. It was all thanks to one MLB insider’s typo.

The San Francisco Giants missed out on several star players this offseason, but it all started with outfielder Aaron Judge, who turned down their reported $360 million deal — if not higher — to re-sign with the New York Yankees when all was said and done.

SF Giants stars Joc Pederson and Logan Webb made an appearance on Chris Rose’s podcast to discuss the near-10 minute period they thought Judge was coming to the Bay area.

SF Giants: Did Joc Pederson, Logan Webb take a shot at Aaron Judge?

None of this should be perceived as a shot at Aaron Judge, who merely followed his heart and decided to stay with the New York Yankees — the only team he’s ever played for. Yes, Judge grew up a Giants fan, but that was a long time ago.

“It means a lot to me, because coming up through the Yankees organization, this is all I’ve known,” Judge said in his Yankees press conference. “My blood, sweat and tears have gone into one thing, which is to play for this team and play for this city and these fans. Knowing that I get to continue to do that and do it in one city, words can’t really describe it. It’s such an incredible feeling.”

Judge would’ve made an excellent Giant, but San Francisco remains a team with many holes, and the home run champion alone wouldn’t have solved them. New York, meanwhile, is on the precipice of winning the American League. They were routinely swept in the ALCS last season by the Houston Astros, but made significant additions this offseason in the form of Carlos Rodon to the starting rotation.

Much of the SF Giants stars ill will appears directed at the Jon Heyman tweet which, unfortunately, broke the wrong news about Judge’s free-agent pursuit.
