Running back Melvin Gordon didn’t do much for the Kansas City Chiefs during their run to a Super Bowl 57 victory, and he’s perfectly fine with that.

The Kansas City Chiefs are currently celebrating their Super Bowl 57 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday in the form of a parade. Chiefs fans will remember all who were on the 2022 roster who made the push to the big game, and helped them overcome a 24-14 halftime deficit to pick up the 38-35 win to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Even those who weren’t on the field for the game will be celebrating regardless.

Running back Melvin Gordon didn’t play in a game for the Chiefs after joining them late this season. On Feb. 7, Gordon was asked by Oliver Wilson of talkSport about joining the Chiefs and making it to the Super Bowl compared to other times. Gordon had a hilarious and honest response.

Melvin Gordon gleefully says Chiefs carried him to a Super Bowl

“The difference is I didn’t do s***. I got carried. I got carried, baby,” said Gordon with a laugh. ” It’s different. In training camp, you kind of go through it with the guys. The blood, sweat, you go through some losses, you go through some wins. Obviously it would have been ideal to still be in Denver, obviously that’s where I started. It’s crazy. It’s the same division, it’s weird. But I’m here now.”

Gordon spent his entire career in the AFC West, starting with Los Angeles Chargers for five years before joining the Broncos in 2021. This past season, Gordon struggled with fumbles. He fumbled the football five times, and lost two of them to the opposition. Those two lost fumbles occurred in  Denver’s 17-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 and their 32-23 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4. On Nov. 21, Gordon was waived by the Broncos, and immediately claimed by the Chiefs.

As mentioned, Gordon didn’t play in a single game with Kansas City. Even so, Gordon thanked the Chiefs for giving him “something to smile about.” Gordon also wasn’t afraid to show off the Lombardi Trophy for those on social media that poked fun at him for not playing a single game for the Chiefs.

Gordon is a free agent with the season over. But in his eighth year in the league, Gordon is forever recognized as a Super Bowl champion.
