Tiger Woods is back for Round 2 at the Genesis Invitational after shooting a 2-under 69 in his first round. We have our Tiger tracker to follow every shot.

It was as magical and, frankly, better than anyone could’ve expected on Thursday at Riviera for Tiger Woods. The 82-time PGA Tour-winner teed it up in a non-major for the first time since late 2020 and for the first time overall since missing the cut at The Open Championship. Naturally, all that rust led to him shooting a 2-under 69 and having him inside the Top 30 after Round 1 of the Genesis Invitational.

Woods finished with a barrage of birdies, going under par on his final three holes, to post that score. He wasn’t perfect, but he was driving the ball as far as we’ve seen in a long time and his short game was on point as well. That got everyone excited for his second round on Friday with the supergroup alongside Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas.

Teeing off at 10:24 a.m. ET on the 10th hole for his Friday round as he tried to make the cut, we’ve got our own Tiger Tracker for the second round of the Genesis Invitational, going shot-by-shot through his round.

Tiger Tracker: Tiger Woods shot-by-shot tracker for Round 2 of Genesis Invitational

10th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: Woods laid up on the drivable but difficult Par 4, but was a bit off-line and had 82 yards left to the tricky green.
  • Shot 2: He hit a great little approach into the 10th green that left him 8’10” for his fourth straight birdie overall.
  • Shot 3: The putt missed just by the edge, giving him a tap-in from within a foot for par.
  • Shot 4: Made Putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

11th Hole (Par 5)

  • Shot 1: Tiger pulled out the big dog for the Par 5 and melted a drive 316 yards. Unfortunately, it found the rough.
  • Shot 2: Playing from the rough from 272 yards out, Woods laid up slightly just short of the green with a nice angle to pitch to the hole.
  • Shot 3: He hit a beautiful pitch that gave him by far the best birdie look in the group from only 4’3″.
  • Shot 4: A bad read on the putt and a little too much pace as he blew it past.
  • Shot 5: Made Putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

12th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: Definitely not what he was looking for as his drive was hooked badly to the right, seemingly to the right of the treeline on the side of the fairway.
  • Shot 2: Tiger got a huge break as his drive hit a palm tree that allowed him to find the rough for his second shot. With a bad angle and mediocre lie, he laid up up into the front-left bunker.
  • Shot 3: He almost holed out from the bunker but the putt raced by, leaving a tough one to get his par.
  • Shot 4: With 14’8″ left to save par, Woods had the right pace, wrong line as he missed on the right side.
  • Shot 5: Made Putt – Result: Bogey (Round 2: +1, Tournament: -1)

13th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: Not nearly as severely as on 12, Woods’ drive again went to the right. He was helped by the massive gallery of fans watching as it stopped his ball in some trampled rough, but still left 138 yards from a tough angle to the hole.
  • Shot 2: Tiger indeed drew a nice lie and hit a good approach into the green. It took a soft hop, though, stopping him just by the fringe on the front of the green with 32’6″ left to the hole.
  • Shot 3: The putter looks a bit cold in the cold as he came up well short on his birdie putt, leaving 5’3″ to save his par.
  • Shot 4: Another tough one where the line wasn’t right. He left it a half-ball outside of the left of the cup for another miss.
  • Shot 5: Made putt – Result: Bogey (Round 2: +2, Tournament: E)

14th Hole (Par 3)

  • Shot 1: Absolute dart! Woods nearly aced 14 as he put it within 1 foot for his birdie with a magnificent shot.
  • Shot 2: Made putt – Result: Birdie (Round 2: +1, Tournament: -1)

15th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: One of his best drives of the day thus far, Woods put it right into the middle of the fairway and at a good angle to attack the hole.
  • Shot 2: Tiger didn’t take advantage of that drive, completely mishitting his wedge from 118 yards out and leaving it short and left.
  • Shot 3: Nice bit of recovery here as Woods flipped a little shot right by the hole, leaving himself less than 10 feet for par.
  • Shot 4: Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: +1, Tournament: -1)

16th Hole (Par 3)

  • Shot 1: Tiger might be wishing this was a Par 3 course because this was another absolute pin-seeker, putting it at 5’3″ for his birdie.
  • Shot 2: Heartbreaker miss as a good-paced putt burned the edge but didn’t fall.
  • Shot 3: Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: +1, Tournament: -1)

17th Hole (Par 3)

  • Shot 1: The driver seems to be leaning right on Friday. Another one bled too far in that direction and then caromed into the fairway bunker.
  • Shot 2: With 319 yards to the hole from a deep bunker, no shot he was going for the green. He got it out into the fairway and left himself 179 yards to the hole.
  • Shot 3: Is this the pro darts league? Tiger thinks so as his approach was pin-high after a nifty little approach shot, leaving him only 2’6″ for birdie.
  • Shot 4: Made putt – Result: Birdie (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

18th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: The drive up the hill on the 18th landed in the fairway but the left-to-right slant caused it to roll out into the rough, 154 yards left to the hole.
  • Shot 2: Caught a tough break with the lie being in a divot but he made the best of it to hit it just left of the green in the short rough with around 25 feet to the hole.
  • Shot 3: Great short game shows up as Tiger rolls it out from just off the green to 22 inches.
  • Shot 4: Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

1st Hole (Par 5)

  • Shot 1: Woods let loose on his drive with the Par 5 first hole, going for 325 yards and finding the cart path with 160 yards left to the hole.
  • Shot 2: Rather than taking relief from the path, he elected for the flat lie (perhaps to avoid putting stress on the injured leg). The result was an arm-heavy swing and an approach he sprayed way right of the green, just shy of 30 yards to the hole.
  • Shot 3: Beautiful pitch from the left rough. Put it right on the edge of the green and it rolled to within 9 feet.
  • Shot 4: Just missed on the right edge of the cup with the birdie putt.
  • Shot 5: Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

2nd Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: Again to the right, Tiger let this one bleed just off of the fairway and into the rough on the right side.
  • Shot 2: From 178 yards out hitting from the rough, Woods didn’t have his best effort — or perhaps didn’t have a good angle — as he left it short-left of the green about 87 feet from the hole.
  • Shot 3: Going to be a tester for par as his pitch went a little long, leaving 10’2″ to avoid losing a stroke.
  • Shot 4: Gutsy par putt to finally get something from the flat stick. Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

3rd Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: Complete nuke off of the tee. 364 yards with the driver and his in the fairway with only 79 yards left to the hole.
  • Shot 2: Way too much juice with the wedge as he might’ve been too close and at an awkward distance. Flew it over the green and into the rough 34″3′ from the hole.
  • Shot 3: Nifty little chip onto the green and left himself about 5′ for his par.
  • Shot 4: Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

4th Hole (Par 3)

  • Shot 1: With the long Par 3 at 242 yards, Tiger put some muscle behind it but a bit too much, sending it just long of the green into the fairway grass on the back.
  • Shot 2: Again with a little too much force, Woods ran it past the hole and left himself 10 feet to save par.
  • Shot 3: Whatever he didn’t have with the putter early in his round, he’s decisively found it now. Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

5th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: The putter might have some confidence brewing overall now. Playing a bit conservatively, he split the middle of the fairway with an iron, staying on the short part of the split surface, to leave 170 yards to the hole.
  • Shot 2: Not his best approach but, unlike the previous three holes, he has a birdie putt after finding the green. 28′ to the hole.
  • Shot 3: The birdie putt didn’t have a real chance to go in and Tiger left a bit of meat on the bone with 2’5″ remaining for his par.
  • Shot 4: Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: E, Tournament: -2)

6th Hole (Par 3)

  • Shot 1: His tee shot onto the iconic 6th green put him in a tough spot. It landed on the upper platform but right on the edge. Gravity took its course with the ball running back to the front of the putting surface, leaving him a tricky shot with the green splitting the middle of the bunker from 70 feet away.
  • Shot 2: Oh no. A combination of a poor decision and bad roll, Tiger putted it despite the obstacle of the bunker but sent it too far right and it rolled into the sand.
  • Shot 3: Woods was still up and recovered nicely after a frustrating moment, flipping it out of the bunker to within 5 feet.
  • Shot 4: Limited the damage with a clutch putt. Made putt – Result: Bogey (Round 2: +1, Tournament: -1)

7th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: Clubbing down to avoid the most narrow part of the fairway, he put a 250-yard shot off the tee into the middle of the fairway, still leaving just 160 into the hole.
  • Shot 2: A strong approach shot that was just a bit short, he left himself 36’9″ on the green for his birdie try.
  • Shot 3: Almost! Tiger had the perfect speed but it ducked just left at the last second to miss by 6 inches.
  • Shot 4: Made putt – Result: Par (Round 2: +1, Tournament: -1)

8th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: Woods took it down the left side of the split fairway but went a little too far in that direction and drew a bad lie in a fairway bunker.
  • Shot 2: No choice but to just get it back in the fairway from his lie in front of a large lip on the bunker. That left 139 yards for him to get up and down.
  • Shot 3: It looked better in the air than the final result but the approach was a bit long and put him in the fairway to the back left of the green, 27’6″ away to try and save his par.
  • Shot 4: So close! Woods showed off the short game and had it tracking for the cup but it stopped a mere 4 inches short.
  • Shot 5: Made Putt – Result: Bogey (Round 2: +2, Tournament: E)

9th Hole (Par 4)

  • Shot 1: It was back to the right rough off of the tee for Woods, leaving himself a tough angle over greenside bunkers from 156 yards out.
  • Shot 2: The line was aggressive and looked good but it was an unfortunate shot as it came up short, then plugging in the bunker.
  • Shot 3: Given the lie, the effort wasn’t all that bad as he hit it to the fringe, leaving 14’7″ for par.
  • Shot 4: A tough fast chip, it skated just by the hole after clipping the edge of the cup and left 2’3″ for bogey.
  • Shot 5: Made putt – Result: Bogey (Round 2: +3, Tournament: +1)

Woods finished the second round with a 3-over 74 for the day, which was not all that bad given how much he struggled at times throughout the day. Sitting at 1-over, that left him tied for 68th and outside of the cut line for the time being.
