Baylor vs. Kansas prediction and odds for Saturday, February 18 (Too many points for Bears)
By Reed Wallach
Baylor travels to Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday in a battle of top 10 teams.
The Bears have been on a tear in conference play, erasing an 0-3 start to win nine of 10 games and pull into a tie atop the Big 12 standings. One of those wins included a six point win and cover against Kansas on January 23rd.
KU also sits at 9-4 in league play and has won three straight, most recently on the road at Oklahoma State by double digits. Can the Jayhawks get some revenge against the best offense in the country, or can Baylor continue to cause matchup issues for the defending National Champions.
Baylor vs. Kansas odds, spread and total
Baylor vs. Kansas prediction and pick
Baylor’s offense is firing on all cylinders with their trio of wings in Adam Flager, LJ Cryer and Keyonte George. The team is shooting over 36% from three in Big 12 play, the best mark in the country and that’s an issue against Kansas’ floundering perimeter defense. The Jayhawks are allowing foes to shoot from 35% from three as their switch-all scheme is proving to be an issue against some of the more formidable offenses in the conference.
However, the Jayhawks offense should be able to take advantage for what has been the worst Big 12 defense. The Bears are struggling to stop any team once they get downhill, but the Bears found success sagging off guard Dajuan Harris, who isn’t a threat to shoot, and focusing on Gradey Dick and Jalen Wilson.
Points should be flowing in this one as each offense has bucket getters that can create their own shot and exploit vulnerable spots of the opposing defense, but I lean towards taking the underdog Bears as their ability to generate clean looks on offense will keep them within a few buckets on Saturday.
This spread closed with Baylor favored by two-and-a-half points last month, so while factoring in the venue change, I don’t think Kansas should be laying more than four.
