NFL rumors: Could the Panthers be players for Derek Carr?
New head coach Frank Reich did anything but deny that the Panthers were going to pursue Derek Carr to address their sizable quarterback hole.

The entire NFC South could use an upgrade at quarterback, essentially. While the New Orleans Saints got a leg-up on the entire league and the NFC South by committing to trade with the Las Vegas Raiders — though that didn’t come to fruition because of Derek Carr’s no-trade clause — the race is dead even now.
The Carolina Panthers have a new-ish owner in David Tepper who has yet to be able to prove he’s committed to investing in a winning team. Now, with a need for a new quarterback, it’s the perfect time to put a stamp on whatever this next era of Carolina football will be.
Carr is sure to command a pretty sizable paycheck, so it would be one way for Tepper to show fans in Charlotte that he’s at least semi-interested in staying competitive.
Now is the time to pounce in the NFC South.
