2. Dalton Kincaid

Dalton Schultz is a serious flight risk for the Cowboys in free agency. Ironically, they could move up in Round 1 to replace him with a player with the same first name. Dalton Kincaid is arguably the top pass-catching tight end in this year’s draft class and could provide Dak Prescott with a new weapon in the slot.

Kincaid’s draft status is all over the board at the moment, but it’s very possible he’ll see his stock rise as the pre-draft process rumbles along. He has the athleticism to test well at the Combine and other pre-draft workouts. His Utah tape will also pop off the screen for NFL evaluators looking for a potential big-play option at the tight end position.

Many Cowboys fans would prefer to see the team’s first-round pick spent to strengthen the team’s questionable wide receiver group, but that might be a task better left to free agency. If Dallas does spend big on a starter to pair with CeeDee Lamb on the open market, it makes moving up for a starting tight end a no-brainer.

The real question on Kincaid is whether or not he separates himself from Luke Musgrave as the top receiving tight end in this year’s class. If he does, he could hear his name called in the middle of Round 1. If the Cowboys want to land him, they’ll need to find a trade partner willing to move back to No. 26.
