1 trade the Atlanta Braves want take back: Adam Wainwright

Adam Wainwright has been synonymous with winning and the St. Louis Cardinals for as long as most baseball fans can remember. But believe it or not, Wainwright’s career actually began with the Atlanta Braves.

The Cardinals and Braves represent the gold standard of National League franchises. If the two teams are not winning their respective divisions, chances are good they’re in the hunt. However, Atlanta sure wishes they could take back the trade that sent Wainwright to the Gateway City.

Wainwright was a first-round pick of the Braves in 2000 and remained with the organization until after the 2003 season. The Braves decided to include Wainwright in a deal with the Cardinals that brought J.D. Drew to the ATL.

But, Wainwright would make his big league debut for the Cardinals in 2005 and became a steady presence in the St. Louis rotation for over 15 years. Wainwright has struck out over 2,000 batters in his career and helped the Cards to a World Series in 2006 while also appearing in three All-Star Games. Wain-o also has two Gold Gloves and was the NL wins leader on two separate occasions.
