NBA Power Rankings Tier 7: Suffering from success II

These teams are also exceeding expectations, but they are still on the outside looking in.

Indiana Pacers

It may not be too late for the Pacers to turn back. They have the sixth-worst record in the league. On the other hand, they are only 2.5 games out of a play-in spot. The Pacers do not appear to be throwing in the towel. They signed Myles Turner to an extension and held onto Buddy Hield during the trade deadline.

Orlando Magic

What is going in Orlando? After a slow start, the Magic are 19-15 since Dec. 7. During that span, they have six players averaging double-digit points — Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter Jr., Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, and Moritz Wagner.

They need to commit to a direction soon. Are they going to try to compete for a play-in spot? If not, do they start embracing the tank?
