NFL Rumors: Insider refutes Daniel Jones request for $45 million

You know that report that hit the NFL airwaves this week that Daniel Jones was looking for $45 million a year from New York? According to Craig Carton of FS1, it was planted story designed to make the Giants quarterback look bad.

That’s right, Carton said CAA, Jones’ former agency, was just trying to get back at their former client.

“The agents at CAA, I’m told, leaked that story out because they were bitter that Daniel Jones left them for a new agency and they wanted to make him look bad,” Carton said. “So they leaked out to some reporters that the guy’s coo-coo for cocoa puffs and wants $45 million a year. It never happened. He never made that ask and he never would make that ask.”

Well, that’s quite the accusation against CAA.

A salary of $45 million would put Jones even with Patrick Mahomes and head of Josh Allen, Dak Prescott and Matthew Stafford on the average salary payscale. Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers all make more than $45 million.

So what makes more sense, that Jones had that ridiculous request or that his former agents made it all up? Whether or not you believe it is up to you.
